Please refer to the following guidelines when submitting an article to our editors.
Text
We accept Word, Pages, OpenOffice or PDF formats. If your article includes citations and/or references, we suggest formatting them based on Harvard style, but we are happy to accept any alternative as long as the citations are consistent within your article. however, we are happy to accept other styles, so long as you are consistent within your article.
Images
All articles should include at least one image – we need one that will appear on the home page (as a featured image), and it also makes your article nicer to look at. Include captions wherever possible. When submitting images, please send the full-sized original files (cropped as you wish them to be shown) in addition to the article document, for ease of uploading. Any photos not taken by yourself can only be published with permission from the copyright holder.
Author bio
This is a short paragraph about you that goes at the end of your article. It can be as long or as short as you wish; have a look at other articles on our site if you need inspiration.
Length
We accept both short and long-form articles, with a suggested upper limit of around 2000 words. If word count significantly exceeds this, we may ask you to split your submission into multiple parts for publishing.
Videos
If requested, we can embed videos within articles. Ideally these should be hosted externally (on YouTube, Vimeo or a similar website). In exceptional circumstances, we may be able to host short-form videos directly on the site. Please note that use of an external video may require permission from the copyright holder.
Prior publication
Articles previously published on another website or in an academic journal can only be accepted with the written permission of the previous publisher or copyright holder.
Use of AI
Any use of generative AI or AI-assisted tools in the creation of your article or accompanying images must be declared at the submission stage and referenced in the published article. You must include the name of the AI tool, as well as the purpose and extent of its use. Basic checks of grammar, spelling and punctuation do not need to be declared. In all instances, you must ensure the information in your article is correct, and you remain accountable for any claims made in it.
